With this recording, the now legendary young Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov presents his first studio album – a tribute to his idol Sergei Rachmaninov. All in all, the album is an overwhelming collection of "hits" and rarities as well as a world premiere of an original composition by the pianist!
In the long tradition of Russian pianists and composers, Daniil Trifonov is already regarded as a legacy of Rachmaninov – a passionate virtuoso who carries the temperament of Romanticism, which is also unmistakable in his compositions. Trifonov combines youthful exuberance with virtuosity and thus gives his interpretations something rousing, captivating and inspiring.
With a fascinating repertoire, the young artist pays tribute to his musical grandfather. In three Rachmaninov Variations – including a highly virtuoso variation by Corelli, a rare one by Chopin, the world-famous and beautiful rhapsody of a theme by Paganini and his own compositionRachmaniana – Trifonov shows what an outstanding pianist and original composer he is.
Trifonov will be accompanied by the Philadelphia Orchestra under the direction of the highly revered Yannick Nézet-Seguin.
